It was my personal highlight of bird photography during the workshop weekend with Martin Stock. We just had a short break at the backside of the Eider Barrage, when we found this pair of Redshanks together with their fledgling searching for feed in the shallow bank of the river Eider. I could get 4–5m to the birds to capture this fantastic series of them. read more or write a comment …

At the beginning of the workshop with Martin Stock we went into the salt meadows to get into contact with the environment around the lighthouse Westerhever Sand. Just after we left the main path to the lighthouse the nature showed us a rather rare guest in the salt meadows near Westerhever: a young bird of the spoonbills (easy to recognize).

Seehund-Safari 2017 (308)

Seal Safari 2017

With bright sunshine we got to the seal colonies near the island of Pellworm. As in the last year, it was the ship MS Gebrüder of the two brothers Hellmann, who drove us into the wadden sea. We wanted to have some clouds, but we didn’t got any of them on this summer day. Most of the seals lay sluggish on the sand or tried to cool down in the In the shallow waterfront of the Norderoogsand.

Zirkus Roncalli (142)

Zirkus Roncalli in Town

| 5 IMAGES IN THE BLOGPOST | No Comments

During June 2016 the Zirkus Roncalli is in Hamburg and is playing its 40 Years of Roncalli show.I still remember my youth time, when I visited Roncalli with my parents. At that time it was a very special circus without lions and other wild animals, but with a lot of acrobatics and clown shows.

Currently the circus stays in the middle of Hamburg near the Dammtor railway station and it is lovely to see the colorful circus tent behind the trees every morning and every evening when I pass by on my way to/from the office.

So I went there this weekend to capture some shots during dawn. What a lovely color contrast with the red light in the entrance and the blue sky versus the green leaves.

The Zollen-Bridge is one of Hamburgs oldest bridges, first written about in 1355! The bridge you can see today was build in the 17th century, while the balustrade was originally build for another bridge in 1835 and. It was later mounted on this bridge.

Today you hardly take notice of this old bridge, because it stand aside of two big streets, the Domstraße and Willy-Brand-Straße and cannot be used by cars.

Großneumarkt (I)

Großneumarkt (Infrared)

Großneumarkt, one of the small market places in Hamburg. Nearby is the famous church St. Micheal, in Hamburg just called »Michel‹. I love this market place with its surrounding trees and the little alley in the center of the place. It is special with its cobblestone and looks like in medieval ages in black and white images.

But the image get a very special look through my Infraredphotography with the high-contrast and the white trees.
