MOL Triumph and Thalassa Pistis

| 1 IMAGE IN THE BLOGPOST | No Comments

During the first visit to Hamburg Port I want to see the currently biggest container vessel, the MOL Triumph with it’s dimensions of 400m × 59m. But when I was at the port a second ship the Thalassa Pistis (368m × 51m) was tugged into the port and was moored just behind the giant at the Terminal Burchardkai. The tugboats where still alongside the ship, iluminating the szene together with the lights of the portainer just above the ships. For me this was the best moment to be at the port, with the different lights and the two big vessels.

You can see additional photographies of the Hamburg Port at my Portfolio Page »Port of Hamburg«.

Dockland after the rain

| 1 IMAGE IN THE BLOGPOST | 4 Comments

We had a full day of thunderstorms and heavy rain. But the good news, the rain stopped during sunset — just in time! We were at the Dockland a fantastic build office building, when the clouds and the setting sun created the best background for the illuminated stairs to the rooftop of the building.

Wasn’t it the best, to have puddles all over the concrete in the foreground? So it was so colorful!

Clouds and light at the river Elbe

At fantastic april weather at the river Elbe. We went to the ferry, that passes the Elbe just half an hour away from Hamburg and is frequently used by commuters. Astrid love to paint Plein Air at this location and sometimes I come with my wife to take some shots at this lovely river shoreline.

I have created an panorama shot just5 a few moments later. It is more than 11.000 pixel wide and 4.400 pixel high, so I can easily create a print of 2 meters width!

Park at the Alster Lake in Infrared — Saison opening 2017

| 1 IMAGE IN THE BLOGPOST | No Comments

Seven years ago I shot a similar infrared photography of this 4 tall trees in the park at the Alster Lake. It was in May, also with fantastic clouds over Hamburg.

Today it was very cold on the meadows so there where only a few people around, most of them walking or running along the lakeshore. I didn’t stayed for long, but I managed to take the first shot of the infrared saison 2017 — the 13th saison with infrared images from Marc Volquardsen!
