MPI Enterprise in Dock Elbe 17

A cold winter morning at the Landungsbrücken in Hamburg. Opposite is a special ship of the offshore industry in dock Elbe 17 of Blohm + Voss. It is almost like a toy to look at when you look at the 4 legs with their holes to secure a certain height. It reminds me of a children’s desk, whose table legs can be varied similarly in height.

Here, however, the contrast of the brightly illuminated ship in the dock and the red-and-white striped legs is particularly effective. In addition the lamps, which shines directly to the landing bridges and creates this interesting star effect.

Haus der Patriotischen Gesellschaft & Alte Börse

On my way to the Stintfang, from which I wanted to make a few night shots of the harbor and the dockyards of Blohm & Voss, I passed the Trostbrücke. I saw the House of the Patriotic Society lit across the Fleet. I immediately took the opportunity and went with tripod and camera to the bridge over the Nikolaifleet.

In the picture you can see the House of the Patriotic Society on the left but also an office building on the street Alte Börse. But the most stunning effect of this image is the starry sky over Hamburg. I am currently amazed at how much you can see stars even in this big city.

The opening of the Elbphilharmonie on 11th January 2017 was staged with a fantastic lighti and laser show. Matching the music of the opening concert the facade of the former Kaispeicher and the glass construction was illuminated. Again and again laser beams shot into the sky or let the base stand out from the surrounding Elbe.

In the winter shortly after sunrise, the southern facade of the Elbphilharmony shines like a second sun — while our real sun continued to rise in the southeast. Dock 10 of the shipyard Blohm & Voss is still visible in the foreground, while the power station of the Hafencity on the the left behind the Elbphilharmony blows golden smoke into the sky.

A sublime sight.

Elbphilharmony, Michel and illuminated cranes

Only a few more days to the grand opening of the Elbphilharmony and the city is getting more and more illuminated. Everywhere buildings are especially illuminated. I drove 6 days before the opening to the Hansahöft, because from there your have this view with the Michel between Elbphilharmony and Hanseatic Trade Center. What a fortune, that not only the top of the Michels was illuminated, but even the half-port cranes at the side of the Elbphilharmonie.

What a light presentation!
