Traces in rape (0050)

Traces in Rapeseed

For the first time we were in Angeln, the landscape north of the Schlei, in early summer. So typical of this gently rolling landscape are the blooming rapeseed fields in May/June. And of course I wanted to capture them in a picture. Who knows me, I love symmetries!

So here it made sense to put the tractor tracks symmetrically into the picture.

This pretty, but at the same time inconspicuous flowering perennial can be found in the early summer months at the edges of the hedgerows in Angeln. Everywhere the verge of the farm tracks bloomed in white, only late did other coloured flowers appear. The flowers are about 1 to 1.5 cm in diameter and have five petals, clearly divided into two at the upper edge.

I found it particularly beautiful when the flowers were illuminated from behind through the bend in the morning hours, which is shown to good effect in the two pictures below. read more or write a comment …

Dead tree at Brunsberg

Dead tree from inside

On one of our hikes around Buchholz we had planned to walk around the Brunsberg. We also passed through the so-called Höllenschlucht (»Hell Gorge«), which was, somewhat exaggeratedly named, an approximately 20-deep dry valley from the Ice Age. At the exit we passed this felled tree trunk and to my amazement I could see through it. read more or write a comment …

Little Water Frog

The Little Water Frog is the Lurch of the Year 2023 and this one loves in our nature garden pond behind the house. According to information from Nabu, this frog is an »inhabitant of quiet forest ponds«. Even more a compliment for our small nature garden behind the house.

From time to time we hear him croak softly, but mostly we only hear him when we approach the pond without thinking and he then hops into the pond with a loud »Plonsch«.

Farewell — a day in the snow

At the age of 7 weeks it was time for me to say goodbye to the C‑litter. One week later the new owners were to come and collect most of the puppies, only Carla would stay with her mother Frieda and Anton. It was the most beautiful day in the 7 weeks I was allowed to accompany the dogs growing up. Snow had fallen overnight and the sun came out in the morning. Photo light at its best, as you can see from the many good pictures from that day. I’m summarising the farewell in a big post with lots of pictures. Above you can see 6 of the 7 puppies, only Carlson Bosse was sleeping crosswise in the back. read more or write a comment …

Cäthe takes an interest in the camera (0356)

Photo Equipment and young Broholm Dogs

In the first weeks of the young Broholm litter’s life, Dieter, the dogs‹ master, got used to taking photos with me less and less. He had the dogs around him all week anyway and I was only there one afternoon at the weekend. On that day, he just put his camera down somewhere because he was distracted by the puppies. And the most curious of them were already at the camera and examining it. Of course, they also put their paws in the area of the shutter release, like Cäthe above, who was examining the camera.

While Cuno sniffed the lens on another occasion: read more or write a comment …
