Regenbogen über Steinbeck

Rainbow season

| 1 IMAGE IN THE BLOGPOST | No Comments

Golden hour, rain clouds and we just came back from the cornfields when this rainbow opened up in front of us. The small street in the foreground is not noticeable at all and due to the stately avenue trees, the residential area alongside the cornfield fields is completely covered. Almost pure nature photography.

Gersten-Ähre

Grain in warm evening light

The last few evenings we were drawn out into the cornfields around Steinbeck. Barley, wheat and rye are about to be harvested, rye and barley are already bending down. The cover picture shows an ear of barley in the warm evening light. Typical are the long awns that characterize the barley. The rye is a little different. Although it also tends downwards as it ripens, it has only short and, above all, equally long awns, as the following picture shows: read more or write a comment …

Regenwolken bei Sonnenuntergang

Rain clouds at sunset

It was again one of those evenings, where it was worth to take the camera with you on the evening walk. Shortly before sunset a rain front approached from the southwest and quickly pushed itself over the cumulus clouds in the north. It was great to see how the front edge of the rain front was illuminated by the sun from behind. What a spectacle of color!

You don’t have to travel far to experience great light moods. And sometimes even a corn field in the foreground is enough.

Felder zwischen Sittensen & Heidenau

Oaks in the fields near Heidenau

We were cycling through the fields between Sittensen and Buchholz when we passed this beautiful group of oaks. I always love the time with the soft veil clouds in the sky, which develop their drama only in infrared photography.

Here the eye is led from the top right along the cloud to the oak tree. I think that’s what’s special about the composition.

Sonnenuntergang über Hoheluft

The way into the sun

Many evenings I walk along these fields, with the view of the houses at the Country inn Hoheluft, which is located above the small village of Meilsen on the main road. Every evening the mood is different — now, just before midsummer, the sun sets behind the houses in the northwest.

On this evening we were exactly on the spot at the right time. Exactly in extension of the footpath between the fields, the sun hung glowing red between the trees and above it a fantastic cloud front, which absorbed some of the light. An atmosphere to enjoy!

Hamburg - Blohm+Voss

Blohm + Voss in infrared

This morning was a day full of dramatic clouds and I was finally back in Hamburg on a short photo trip along the harbour. It’s great that there were only short moments of sunlight that bathed Blohm + Voss in the light, but not the river Elbe before that. And the sky above was full of dramatic clouds. So I love the light for my infrared photography!
