Hapag Lloyd (Infrared)

Finally once there were great clouds over the city at the end of the day and so I quickly drove to the Alster to capture the view over the Binnenalster to the Ballindamm in this picture. Since the trees seem so small here, the clouds do the rest to strengthen the image impression of this infrared photography.

In the picture, partly covered by the Alster fountain, you can see the main building of the Hapag Lloyd shipping company. About 20 years ago I was in the building several times because the shipping company was a client of my former employer. To the right of it you can see the church tower of the main church St. Jacobi, which is located on Steinstraße.

A pack of wolves in the wildlife park

For a long time the wolf pack in the Wildlife Park Schwarze Berge was on my wish list for a few photos. Certainly because it is a very difficult environment to photograph the wolves. A wooded area prevents the view of the wolves and shades the whole motive very far. When the sun is shining, the contrast is quickly too high to make proper animal portraits. So it was even nicer for me to have borrowed the great telephoto lens with which I had already photographed the storks in Schwabstedt and the seals on the seal safari. Lynx Finn in the Wildlife Park Schwarze Berge

At a time when lynx youngsters had just been born in the Wildlife Park Schwarze Berge, we had the opportunity to see the father of the young lynx on his observation tree. At first he lay there sluggish, his front paws pressed against the tree. From time to time he opened his eyes slightly and looked if anything had happened in the enclosure, but mostly without lifting his head magnificently.

But when we passed the enclosure again some time later, Finn was a little more on his guard. With his hind legs stretched, he lay down on a trunk and stared a little at my side. Crested crane in an unusual perspective

Together with the stork, a crested crane had been released into the air at the end of the flight show. I caught him especially in this one funny perspective — from below. The special thing about this perspective is that I looked at the legs from below and could see the top of the wings at the same time. In addition, the tail feathers were aligned exactly in my direction. The crane must have just braked.

What a majestic bird!

I don’t get to catch a stork flying by from this proximity every day. At the flight show in the Wildlife Park Schwarze Berge, after the demonstration of the eagles, falcons and owls, a stork and a crane were simply allowed to make their rounds, while the visitors slowly set off. For me, it seemed like an end-act after the main concert (I know, actually we are talking about an opening act before the main concert) — the stork did its rounds and looked down on us again and again. Wildlife Park Schwarze Berge — Eagle Owl

One of the most fascinating creatures on earth for me is the owl. I love the plumage, its silent flight and the eyes! Again and again the big shining eyes!

So also here in my recording during the flight show in the Wildlife Park Schwarze Berge. The flight show takes place on a very large area, where the birds have possibilities to fly a little more freely. However, for the eagle owl I sat too close to the flight path to be able to follow the bird in flight with the large lens that I had at that day. But thanks to the range of the lens there were great shots on the hide. Again and again the bird trainer lured her with a piece of meat on the seat, so that I could catch the approach. Wildlife Park Schwarze Berge — Storks

When I saw a couple of storks in the wildlife park Schwarze Berge at theduck pond, it was clear that I would take some photos here again. That one stork — I suppose a stork lady — played around with the feather again and again looked like Schickedöns to me, in any case I had to think again of Michael Goltz and his storks on the church in Schwabstedt. Both storks were always observing how they worked in their feathers and the remains of feathers in the beak of the second stork indicate a moult. I have no idea whether they were young storks or not. Anyway, they already had red legs and beaks, which indicated a further development than that of the young storks in Schwabstedt. read more or write a comment …
