After a day with lots of sunshine, the second day on Vesterålen came with storms and rain again. I remembered what Trym Ivar Bergsmo, my mentor and great photographer of the northern Norwegian landscape, who passed away far too soon, used to say: “The best photos are taken in bad weather!”
So once again I put on my rain pants and jacket and set off. Luckily, the weather cooperated and there were some heavy rain showers that swept across the landscape from south to north. However, the sun also came through during the breaks in the rain. Here it helped to illuminate the sandy ground of the beach section in front, while the rain front was still hanging over the mountains in the background.
