Vikoria Meienburg plays and reads the life story of Maria Sibylla Merian. Accompanied on the flute by Angelika Schmidt, according to the idea and with the stage installation of Waltraut Biester.

Maria Sibylla Merian already explored and painted in the 17th / 18th century plants and insects. Her special theme was the metamorphosis of the butterflies. Born and grew up in Frankfurt am Main, she later lived in Nuremberg and Amsterdam with her two daughters, where she was recognized and respected as an artist, researcher and businesswoman. At the age of 52, she set off for her expedition to the distant Surinam, to the Dutch colony, where she also shared the life of black and Indian slaves. In 2017, her death is celebrated for the 300th time.

Once again I had the opportunity to have Viktoria in full costume in front of my camera. It always makes fun to take pictures in the theater.
