Einhyrningur — the unicorn. This striking rock stands like a gate pillar on the way from the southwest into the highlands of Iceland. While we had once again started in drizzle, the cloud cover at the Eyjafjallajökull glacier opened up a bit. Just as we had stopped for a first photo stop at Einhyrningur and only shortly after I had set up my tripod, the sunlight came out for a few minutes and made this special rock shine in all its glory! The clouds on its right flank give the impression that the old volcanic cone is still smoking.
No wonder the Icelanders call it Unicorn — Einhyrningur!
