Black desert with grassland in the background

We reached the edge of the highlands. Far to the west, we drove for a long time through a black lava desert, not a sander like the Mælifellssandur, but raw, partly block-like lava. A very rough landscape that makes me think of the surface of the moon. Even if lunar rhyolite seems to be brighter.

In the background you can dimly make out the grassland through which the large rivers from the highlands run.
